about

This one was played first thing on a Sunday morning after a particularly disturbing dream. I dreamed that the world was covered in hazy darkness, after the coming of giant, malevolent, Lovecraftian creatures from a long-dead epoch. The sky was blue/black, as if it were underwater, and yet it wasn’t. The gloom that blanketed the air was thick and tangible, oppressive, and opaque...

This and “Respite” are the only two improvisations with a specific form. The form is actually a blues variation with an extended turnaround that features two minor triads a half step apart. It’s very easy to justify this planing because minor tonality is so ambiguous, being able to draw from the natural, harmonic, and melodic minor scales at any given time.
